The Town of Century will use a $499,500 state grant to renovate an industrial building in its local industrial park. Governor Ron DeSantis approved the funds through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund.
The money will pay for upgrades to a town-owned structure at 9082 Industrial Boulevard. The project aims to bring the facility up to current code standards. Specific work includes critical improvements to the building's fire suppression system.
Mayor Ben Boutwell said the town is preparing the space for a specific prospective tenant. That business is an existing industry that currently needs more room to expand its operations. The grant ensures the building is ready for that occupant.
The property covers 2.12 acres and contains a total of 11,050 square feet. Century Millworks, a cabinet manufacturer, previously leased the building. The company closed its doors after its owner retired.
Florida Commerce administers these statewide investments. The agency supports local job creation and public infrastructure improvements. This grant is part of a wider effort to drive business growth across Florida communities.
