A fatal shooting occurred on a residential street in Grand Bay, Alabama, on October 17. The Mobile County Sheriff's Office reports that 21-year-old Gabriel Rogers was found dead in a trailer on Magnolia Trace Drive after an argument with a friend.
The incident began around 8:15 p.m. when Rogers was celebrating his birthday. Investigators state that 19-year-old Tucker Woods, described as a lifelong friend, arrived and wanted to fire his rifle on the property. Rogers objected to the plan. The dispute escalated when Woods pointed the gun at Rogers. A witness stated that Rogers walked toward Woods holding a pocketknife before Woods opened fire.
Deputies discovered Rogers with gunshot wounds to his chest and head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Woods was taken into custody and remains in Metro Jail on no bond.
Newly released transcripts from the Mobile County Communications District capture the immediate aftermath. The first call came in at 8:16 p.m. MCSO confirms that Rogers' girlfriend made the call. She identified the location as Magnolia Trace Drive in Grand Bay. The operator confirmed the address. The caller stated that a friend had shot Rogers in the house and pleaded for help.
A neighbor placed a second call one minute later. The resident reported hearing gunshots in the neighborhood. The caller described seeing a young man enter the first trailer on the left while a girl screamed. The neighbor stated that the man ran back to his car, retrieved another gun, and re-entered the house. The caller described the man banging on the front door before returning to his vehicle.
Woods is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, October 29. The Mobile County Sheriff's Office continues to process the scene evidence. The case remains open as investigators review the sequence of events leading to the shooting.
